A survey revealed that telling someone their home looks clean, or that it smells good, are the two best home-related compliments people love to hear.
While flattering a homeowner with either of those will surely make a seller happy, if you’re looking to cozy up to a seller and make them more inclined to accept your offer over another buyer’s offer, or even be a little more negotiable, you might want to take it up a notch…
Here are 5 over-the-top compliments you can use to not only flatter the seller, but also paint the picture of you as the next owner of their lovely home:
It’s a good sign when a potential buyer starts envisioning themselves living in the home, but that usually comes in the form of saying something about how their furniture will fit in a room, or how they can see themselves enjoying coffee looking out a certain window. Use their shiny mirrors as the perfect opportunity to compliment them by literally seeing yourself living there.
It’s one thing to tell the seller their home is clean, but imagine how much pride they’ll take in hearing it’s clean enough for you to take a year off of cleaning duties once you buy the place!
People get used to the smell of their own home, so they can’t actually smell what their home smells like, but most sellers probably think their home smells good! (Yes, even the ones with a dozen cats and a wet dog roaming around…) So think about how pumped they’d be if you told them you want to continue pumping the scent into the air of the home once you own it!
Or if you think taking air samples sounds a bit too over-the-top, you could just warm up to them by comparing their home to the smell of warm Cinnabons!
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so imagine how flattered the seller will be knowing you want to keep a picture of their room like it’s an inspirational photo you found on Pinterest!
