Should You Join a Real Estate Team? Sure, as Long as You Do This!
At some point in their career, almost every agent either considers joining a team, or is asked to join one. It’s not the right move

As much as listing agents love generating multiple offers for their sellers to choose from, and ultimately getting them the highest price and best terms possible, breaking the news to all of the buyers who didn’t get the house is something they’d rather avoid if possible.
Unfortunately it’s not something they can avoid. Whether it’s one other buyer, or dozens of them, listing agents have to be the bearer of bad news to all but one of the buyers who made an offer.
But now that you can hire celebrities to record a happy birthday message, or even a professional endorsement, there may be a workaround to this dilemma! What if agents could hire TV personalities to record a message they could send to each buyer whose offer wasn’t chosen, using their catch phrase?!
Sure, the buyer will probably still be disappointed, but maybe getting a message from a celeb will make the moment a little better, and it’ll certainly make things easier on the listing agent.
So let’s take a look at the top 6 TV personalities and their catchphrases listing agents could use to tell buyers they didn’t get the house in a bidding war:
Sadly, Alex Trebek passed away in 2020, but the show continues on with several hosts that a listing agent could hire to deliver the final answer in the form of a question.
Pat Sajak may be in retirement, but perhaps he’d like a little voice-over work! Agents could have him record a message that says, “Unfortunately, you’re not buying this house, but would you like to buy a vowel?” Hit ‘em with the bad news first, and then give them an opportunity!
Steve Harvey hosts tons of things, so he’s obviously always open to an opportunity to make some extra cash. Why not have him record a message that says, “Name a person who’s offer was accepted…” Then cue that annoying “X” buzzer sound to go off after the buyer excitedly yells, “My offer!?”
There are a variety of reasons why a buyer’s offer might not be accepted, but Mark Cuban could record one for each reason and sum up each and every one of them with, “…and for that reason, I’m out.” This would give buyers some closure knowing exactly why their offer wasn’t accepted.
Agents could go with Jane Lynch, the host of the U.S. version of The Weakest Link, or reach out to the British host, Anne Robinson, if they prefer someone with an accent. Either way, a recording saying, “You are the weakest link. Goodbye.” would be a great option for those times when they just want to send a ruthless message to a buyer that rubbed them the wrong way.
There’s only one Survivor every season, and every other contestant has to hear Jeff Probst say, “The tribe has spoken…” as he snuffs out their torch. This makes him the perfect person to step up and deliver bad news to a bunch of people who didn’t outwit, outplay, or outlast the sole buyer of the house!
