These 10 Reasons Why She Loves Being A Realtor Couldn’t Have Been Summed Up Any Better

One of the biggest misconceptions about real estate agents is that they’re all rolling in dough.
The truth is, no matter how successful an agent is, they all go through periods of time where they have to scrimp and save between closings.
Agents only get paid when (and if!) they sell a house, and sometimes they can go months without making a cent. Once they do get paid, they obviously have to use a good chunk of it to pay their bills, and set some money aside for taxes and business expenses that’ll come along throughout the year. But, you can bet they also want to treat themselves a little bit!
Let’s take a look at 10 tongue-in-cheek ways agents spend their money after finally receiving a long-awaited payday:
Filling up your gas tank halfway, or asking for $20 of regular three times in a week, probably ends up costing as much as filling the tank. But when you’re worried about when your next closing will be, filling up with the good stuff isn’t on the agenda. So if you see an agent pulling out of the gas station with a topped off tank full of the highest grade petrol, it’s a good sign they probably just left a closing.
Going food shopping might not sound like a splurge, but we’re not just just talking about the essentials. We’re talkin’ name brands, not putting a package of chicken back because you find one for eleven cents less, and snacks galore… maybe even an avocado! Heck, they might not even whip out coupons at the register!
It’s a lucky day for the kid collecting donations for their team, organization, or a good cause in front of that grocery store, too! No need to throw ‘em a measly quarter — or even go the long way to the other door to avoid them — when an agent has a few bucks they can peel off without worry.
You’re in luck if you’re at a bar and an agent walks in after a closing to celebrate! There’s a good chance they’ll wanna share the love, and buy a round (or two!) for their closest friends… and anyone else who happens to be in the bar.
Being an agent is not that far off from gambling; you gotta beat the odds if you’re going to succeed! So heading to the casino and betting a stack of chips the size of whatever they have left over from their commission wouldn’t be that crazy for an agent. Hey, maybe they’ll double their money!
Just because you’re broke and waiting for a closing doesn’t mean you can’t do a little shopping! Agents can do all the retail therapy they want on Amazon between closings, as long as they wait for their check to clear before checking out their very full cart. So if you see a neighbor who only gets a delivery from Amazon once in a blue moon, but when they do it’s a huge order, they’re probably an agent who just had a closing.
Going out to see a movie isn’t cheap! So when an agent goes to see a flick between closings, they probably skip the concession stand and might even sneak a snack or two in to save a few bucks. But after a closing, it’s a nice treat to get the big bucket of popcorn, and a vat of soda to wash it down, even if it does add another $58.73 to the night out.
OK, let’s not get crazy. There’s no way an agent could afford a personal masseuse with what’s left over from their commission check. But, they can certainly spring for a massage! Maybe even an hour long one, instead of the half hour one where you barely get into the relaxation groove before your time is up.
No, not one in a new subdivision like the agent sold to earn their commission… like, literally a model home you build with a kit you get at a hobby store!
